GRAPHIC DESIGN PROJECTS

I love going to art museums/exhibitions and I'm always left reflecting on a piece or several pieces at the end of the visit. On a Saturday afternoon, when I had absolutely nothing to do and was tired of doom scrolling on Instagram, I decided to doom scroll through my photos. In these, I saw the picture I took of an artwork from a museum I went the other day. It was a painting of plants behind, what looked to me, like a sheet of bubble wrap. I'm not sure that was what the artist intended it to be, but I thought the contrast between these two ideas was interesting and inspired me to do my first graphic design series (since doing graphics on Illustrator is a hobby of mine and the closest artistic thing I can do). I enjoyed doing this and it felt more productive than mindlessly being on my phone and I thought, "well, why don't I display them somewhere for people to see?". Well, now it's here, in my portfolio, so enjoy! Below each series are the works that inspired them.

FLOWERS AND PLASTIC

This series combines photographs of real flowers with hand-drawn plastic objects to explore the relationship between nature and human-made environments. The contrast between organic forms and synthetic materials highlights how plastic has become deeply embedded in the natural world. Rather than humans adapting to nature, nature is forced to adapt to our creations in order to survive.

MIRÓ-ESQUE

This series combines the different art mediums that Spanish artist Miró engaged with (sculpture, textile, and painting). The center images that have a 3D effect are an inspiration of his sculptures, the circle in the center is a picture I took of one of his textile work, and the figures in the background draw upon the elements present in many of his paintings. By combining all of these elements in one, I wanted to celebrate the multi-talent of this great artist.

Looking forward to new projects and opportunities.
